Author Bio

Tom Clancy was an American author of military and political thrillers. He was best known for his Jack Ryan novels, which have sold over 100 million copies worldwide.

Clancy was born in Baltimore, Maryland, in 1947. He graduated from Loyola University Maryland in 1969 and served in the United States Army Reserve from 1969 to 1975.

After leaving the Army, Clancy worked as an insurance salesman. In 1984, he published his first novel, The Hunt for Red October. The book was a huge success, and it launched Clancy's career as a novelist.

Clancy wrote over 20 novels, including The Cardinal of the Kremlin, Clear and Present Danger, and The Sum of All Fears. His books have been translated into more than 40 languages.

Clancy died in 2013 at the age of 66.
